Environmental Minerals Laboratory

1.Introduction 

Environmental minerals laboratory was established in 2004, and we mainly use X-ray diffractometerscanning electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence to observe and measure the surface morphology of the minerals as well as the content of mineral components, especially clay minerals, carbonate minerals, magnetic minerals and chemical elements analysis of the components. We study the interaction between minerals and environment, explore the transformation law of environment and mineralogical sign, state mineralogy mechanism of environmental pollution, in order to provide mineralogical information for the reconstruction of the paleoclimate, forecasting environmental change, environmental quality assessment and environmental management. 

  

2. Research interests 

(1) Mineral morphology, mineral composition, mineralogical analysis and  

 paleoenvironmental significance of minerals in Cenozoic sediments 

(2) The mineral composition of modern soil 

(3) The application of environmental mineralogy in modern environmental pollution
